The AAXA looks extremely artificial if you leave the sharpness control where it's set out of the box, adding a lot of image-ruining video noise. The Anker has a more natural-looking image, likely due to less edge enhancement and better processing overall. Though both projectors have basically the same 16:9 resolution, they look different here as well. Which is to say, the Anker looks more washed out with actual content vs. Even though the AAXA has a lower contrast ratio, being able to adjust contrast and brightness let me dial in a more contrast-y image. Muted is also what I'd say about the Anker's contrast, compared to the AAXA. The AAXA has a decided flamboyance to its color, which does definitely draw the eye. Both are quite wrong, but the Anker is less in-your-face about it. The Anker is a bit more subdued in its color reproduction, so it's more muted in its wrongness. The color on both looks, shall we say, creative. In both cases a few taps with a tint control would be able to fix it, but neither have this option (it's grayed out on the AAXA). Side-by-side, it's quite apparent that the Anker has a pinkish hue, while the AAXA is greenish. That you can adjust the settings at all is a point in the AAXA's favor, since the Anker basically doesn't have any. The biggest improvement comes from turning the sharpness control way down, which decreases the video noise and edge enhancement. The first thing I should mention is that you should absolutely adjust the AAXA's picture settings. I connected them both to a Monoprice 1x4 distribution amplifier, and viewed them side-by-side on a 1.0-gain screen. It's also one of our favorite portable projectors. The Anker Mars II Pro is closer in price than it first seems, as it has streaming capabilities built in, as in you don't need a streaming stick like you do with the AAXA. With its undersized price and oversized brightness, it's hard to compare the P6X to other projectors. So I don't count this as a negative as much as "that would have been cool." Picture quality comparisons I'm a strong believer that everything should charge via USB, but that's not always possible due to cost and other factors. It comes with a moderately bulky power brick. Unfortunately, the P6X doesn't recharge via USB. Just don't stick it to the left of the logo on top, as that gets hot when the projector is on. A handy DIY mod could be a small strip of Velcro to keep the remote with the projector. The remote is about half the size of a credit card. I also drive a manual transmission car, so YMMV. I actually like this analog capability over the automatic zoom found on some portables. There's no lens shift or zoom, which is to be expected. The latter isn't great, but it gets the job done. On the audio front, there's a headphone jack and a 4-watt speaker. There's even an analog video input, which is actually quite rare. The single HDMI connection is plenty - it lets you connect a streaming stick, and the USB port delivers more than enough power for it. Analog input: Composite (adapter included)ĭespite the serious lack of real estate, the P6X's backside has the basic connections you need and a bit more. The AAXA is also significantly quieter in Eco mode, which is an added bonus. The 240 minutes in Eco mode, which is 66% dimmer, basically means a whole night of movies without plugging in. The result is a claimed runtime at full brightness of 90 minutes, which is all some portable projectors can manage at significantly lower light output. That's almost entirely due to its massive 15,000-mAh battery, more than many USB battery packs. The PX6 is surprisingly heavy for its size. Just something to keep in mind if you're used to your 4K 50-inch TV. I saw relatively big, chunky pixels on larger screen sizes, but for this price and portability, it's not a big deal. In fairness, most inexpensive portable projectors are around this resolution, with only a handful at 1080p, none at 4K and some even less than the AAXA. One of the main issues with the P6X is the resolution: 1,280x800. I measured 437, which at half the rated specification is still higher than any of the other portable projectors I've measured. Most portable projectors are rated for less than half that. The LEDs inside are capable of a claimed 1,100 lumens. The P6X is impressively small, 6 inches on a side, and less than 2 inches tall. Battery life (claimed): 90 minutes (standard mode) 240 minutes (Eco mode).Lumens spec (claimed): 1,100 (plugged in) 1,000 battery.+6 more See all photos Teeny-tiny trapezoid Michael-Christopher Koji Fox is also part of the core team as localization director. "Whether it be for the overall battle system, or the animation trees – Clive has so many different abilities, and being able to string all of those abilities together seamlessly without any stress, and have it look really, really natural, he helped us do that. And by bringing in this super-talented veteran in Ryota Suzuki, he was able to bring everything together that we had, and then build upon that using his plethora of experience on past titles." "That's why bringing in Suzuki-san really really helped us out. "Our development team had very little experience creating action games, and in those first few days of development we really struggled." Yoshida-san said. In an interview with GamesRadar+, producer Yoshida spoke on Suzuki's invaluable role on the team and how his work helped shape the combat of the game. We also know that Ryota Suzuki who previously worked on Devil May Cry 5 and Dragon's Dogma is on board as combat director. " In that span, the team’s size has grown from a handful of core members to a full-fledged unit that continues to polish and build upon what they have created so far, all to provide players an experience unmatched in terms of story and gameplay." "The exclusive footage, comprised of both battles and cutscenes running in real-time, represents but a fraction of what our team has accomplished since the start of development on this, an all-new Final Fantasy game," Yoshida writes. After the official reveal of the game during the PS5 event, a blog was posted on PlayStation's official site (opens in new tab) written by Yoshida which confirmed his role, along with revealing that Hiroshi Takai is directing. In terms of who is working on the upcoming Final Fantasy title, the announcement also confirmed Naoki Yoshida is the producer on Final Fantasy 16. When the children all come in and I allow them to climb all over me, we're purposefully showing that I'm a different kind of guy. That was an interesting duality to get into with Winslow. We’ve seen Waterford in the position of power so often that it's interesting to see the tables turned, where he was made to feel pursued and uncomfortable.Exactly, and suddenly he's in the position of having to question, "How far are you willing to go now, to get what you want? You've wielded your power to subjugate others, but how do you react to being subjugated?" When I read that line in the script, that I put my hand on Waterford, I thought it tied into something about Winslow that was really clear in all the action lines. You're propping yourself up to be one thing, and the truth is that you are something else. I'm not saying that to be bisexual is a perversion, of course, but that this person is not authentic. Things are not what they seem to be, and there is a corruption and a perversion of norms. And I thought, This is a man of great appetite, and there’s also a sense that this is how things work when you have absolute power. The action is just, I put my hand on Waterford. Whether you want to call it Easter eggs or bread crumbs, I just thought there was something to play there. Are we meant to be reading something erotic into his interactions with Fred? Winslow’s ambiguous sexuality has been a big subject of discussion among fans. I thought that was kind of a wonderful perversion and a fascinating starting message for who this guy is. He can't have enough of whatever the currency is, whatever the thing is that gives you status. In a society where one of the main sources-if not the main source-of value and social status is in fact children, here's a guy who's like the modern-day billionaire who collects pieces of art. That first scene, where the Winslows are introduced followed by all of their children, is pretty breathtaking. But the most telling thing I knew was that Winslow has got five kids. I figured that he's a goal for Waterford to be climbing toward, a representation of a greater power outside of what the characters have been living, and what the audience has been introduced to. I knew nothing! All I knew was that he was going to be a power player, as all commanders are, but even more of a power player because his power emanates from the federal source in Washington, D.C. What did you know about Commander Winslow when the role first came to you? Meloni sat down with to discuss the ambiguity around Winslow's sexuality, how he differs from every other commander we've seen on the show, and his "satisfying" demise at June's hands. It's a deeply cathartic moment that also represents a profound shift in June, who's now taken a life for the first time. A sympathetic housekeeper aids her flight from the club, and a group of Marthas clean up the murder scene and incinerate Winslow's body, making his death like a disappearance. When Winslow tries to rape her in a private room at Jezebel's, she stabs him to death with his own pen. Last week's episode saw June counseling Commander Lawrence ( Bradley Whitford) through the Ceremony by teaching him her coping mechanisms: "Treat it like a job." This week, she finally reaches her breaking point.
This is all while playing it on Normal difficulty, so it's not even supposed to be this insanely hard. I have to say I have not been enjoying the DLC. I'm going to be honest, I feel like these boss aliens were only put in to make the game noticeably harder without the developers truly thinking about their design or the balance of the overall game. It slaughtered a few of my men and then escaped only to show up again in another mission shortly after and slaughtered another squad. In my latest playthrough I was maybe four missions in, when you're still starting out and have bugger all gear and a boss Viper appeared. Having an enemy that can weave in and out of every decision you make just makes all your possible plans pointless. The turn system being equal on both sides is one of the things that should have never been touched, it helps keep the balance of the game. The new "boss" aliens it introduces are horrifically overpowered, break the turn-based system since they get to move after what looks like every action you take and they can turn up anywhere. I like that it's challenging, I enjoy thinking up different strategies when I've failed numerous times. To get this out of the way: I freaking love XCOM 2, I think it's an incredibly challenging game, that keeps me coming back for more. So I've been playing through XCOM 2 again, but now with the Alien Hunters DLC enabled and my god it's frustrating. I still do not recommend getting this DLC. A mission for a "Locator Beacon" will appear, do not do it and you will be happily playing as normal. If you don't tick it, they will appear whenever they please. This will give you the ability to delay it forever, and not have the vicious new aliens appear. Update: When you start a new game, make sure you tick the box for the Alien Hunter expansion mission. |
